Insurance & Liability for Padel Club Owners
Padel is a physical, fast-paced sport played in close proximity to glass, steel, and other players, and the insurance conversation deserves more attention than a single generic liability policy bolted on before opening day.

Public and Player Liability
The baseline every club needs: coverage for injuries to players, staff, or visitors on-site. Padel-specific risk factors worth confirming explicitly with an insurer rather than assuming a generic sports facility policy covers them: collisions with glass or structural elements, injuries from rented or provided equipment, and injuries during organized events, lessons, or tournaments where the club has a more active role than simply providing a court.
Property and Structural Coverage
Covering the building and court structure itself, glass, cage, roofing, against damage from weather events, accidents, or structural failure. Worth explicitly checking whether the policy accounts for the actual replacement cost of specialized padel court components, not a generic commercial property valuation that could badly undervalue what it would actually cost to rebuild a damaged court.
Equipment and Inventory
Rental rackets, balls, pro shop inventory, and any club-owned equipment used by members, covered against theft, damage, and loss, particularly relevant for clubs running a meaningful rental or retail operation.
Business Interruption
Often the most overlooked coverage and potentially the most financially significant: if a court has to close for repair, whether from a structural failure, weather damage, or another insured event, business interruption coverage replaces lost revenue during the closure. Given how expensive court downtime is (covered elsewhere in this hub in the context of construction and maintenance decisions), this is worth pricing seriously rather than treating as an optional add-on.
Employer and Instructor Liability
If you employ coaches, trainers, or staff running programs and lessons, coverage needs to extend to instruction-related risk specifically, not just general premises liability. This is frequently underinsured because it gets bundled as an afterthought rather than priced against the club's actual coaching and programming activity.
Where Standard Policies Fall Short
Generic commercial sports facility policies are often written with a broader category (gyms, generic recreation centers) in mind and can miss padel-specific exposures: the proximity of play to hard structural elements, glass-related injury risk, and the replacement cost of specialized court components. Working with a broker who's actually written policies for padel or similar racket-sport facilities, rather than a generalist commercial policy, tends to surface gaps a generic quote won't flag.
We review insurance coverage as part of the launch and ongoing advisory process, checking it against the specific risks of running a padel club rather than assuming a standard policy has it covered. Tell us about your project below.
