Opening a Padel Club in Morocco: Is It Profitable?

Morocco sits at an unusual crossroads on this list: a short flight from Spain, the world's biggest padel market, with a tourism industry already built around golf resorts and a royal tennis federation that has run professional tournaments for decades. That combination is pulling padel into the country faster than raw court-count numbers suggest.

Padel's Spanish Backyard

Spain alone accounts for more than a third of the European padel market, and Morocco is close enough, geographically and culturally, that Spanish brands are treating it as a natural next step rather than a distant export market: Padel Nuestro, one of Spain's largest padel retailers, opened a store in Marrakech as part of its international expansion. That proximity matters for a new club beyond branding, equipment, court construction, and coaching talent can move across the Strait of Gibraltar far more easily than they can reach most other markets on this list.

From Golf Resorts to Padel Courts

Padel in Morocco isn't only landing in standalone sports clubs, it's showing up inside the country's existing golf and resort infrastructure. WiPadel's Casa Green location, for instance, operates from inside a golf club in Bouskoura, on the edge of Casablanca. That mirrors Morocco's broader tourism model, built for decades around golf, coastal resorts, and hospitality, extending an existing leisure infrastructure to padel rather than building demand from zero the way a purely residential market has to.

Africa's Biggest Padel Address

Padel courts in Morocco are concentrated in Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat, Agadir, and Tangier, with Casablanca holding the largest share of facilities and Marrakech close behind. The clearest anchor point is Arena Ville Verte in Bouskoura, a five-hectare multi-sport complex with 20 outdoor padel courts, currently the largest padel facility on the African continent. A single flagship of that scale changes the competitive read for a new entrant: the question in Morocco's main cities isn't whether the market believes in padel, Arena Ville Verte already answered that, it's finding a location and format that doesn't compete head-on with a 20-court complex.

What a Court Costs to Book

Real booking data from a Casablanca-area club shows court time running from roughly MAD 200 an hour off-peak in the morning to about MAD 267 an hour during evening peak, for the whole court. Promotional and off-peak rates advertised directly by clubs cluster in a similar range, confirming this isn't an outlier reading.

A Federation With Decades of Tennis Behind It

Unlike some of the newer padel federations on this list, Morocco's padel competition calendar runs through the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Tennis (FRMT), a federation that has organized professional tennis events, including the long-running Hassan II and Lalla Meryem Grand Prix tournaments, for decades. Padel in Morocco is being absorbed into an already-mature sports administration rather than requiring one to be built, and the country was added as a stop on the Cupra FIP Tour in 2026, giving it a genuine professional fixture on the international calendar.

The 2023 Investment Charter Changes the Math

Morocco's Investment Charter, in force since 2023, allows 100% foreign ownership in most sectors, free transfer of capital, and a package of incentives, common grants up to 30%, an additional territorial grant up to 15%, sector-specific grants up to 10%, a 36-month VAT exemption on investment goods, and a five-year professional tax exemption. Projects investing at least MAD 1.5 million under government agreement also get corporate tax capped at 20% through 2026. Tourism-linked projects are explicitly eligible, a detail worth raising early with Morocco's regional investment centers given how much of the country's padel growth is already tied to resort and leisure infrastructure.

Is Morocco Worth It Right Now?

For an investor who wants proximity to Europe's biggest padel market without Europe's build costs, Morocco offers a genuinely favorable combination: Spanish supply chains within reach, an existing tourism and golf infrastructure to plug into, a mature federation rather than one still finding its feet, and an investment charter built to reward exactly this kind of project. The trade-off is Arena Ville Verte itself, any serious entrant into Casablanca needs a real answer for how it competes with, or avoids, Africa's largest padel address.
