What Is a Panoramic Padel Court? (And Why It's Trending)

If you've seen padel courts on Instagram with no visible frames or posts, just clean glass from corner to corner, that's a panoramic court, and it's become the aesthetic of choice for new clubs and private installations.

What makes a court "panoramic"

A panoramic court is a variation on the standard glass-walled court, distinguished by removing the metal framing between glass panels, especially at the back wall. Instead of glass panels separated by visible posts, the back is a single, seamless run of floor-to-ceiling tempered glass. Sides typically drop the metal mesh in favour of full glass too, at least for part of the enclosure.

Panoramic vs. standard glass courts

A standard glass court has metal structure between the glass panels and metal mesh along parts of the side walls. It plays exactly the same as a panoramic court, rules-wise, the difference is entirely visual and architectural: unobstructed sightlines for spectators, and a more open, premium feel for players.

Panoramic vs. wall (muro) courts

Wall courts use solid concrete instead of glass, which absorbs more energy on impact and produces a slower, more predictable rebound. They're cheaper to maintain and insulate sound better, which is why they're common in residential settings. A panoramic court trades that for the sharper, faster glass rebound and the open, all-visibility look.

Why panoramic courts are trending

Three reasons: they photograph and film better (a real factor now that clubs market themselves on social media), they let spectators actually see the match from any angle, and they've become a status marker for clubs and private villa installations positioning themselves as premium.

Does the court type affect your game?

Rules and dimensions are identical across all court types, glass, panoramic or wall. What changes is the speed and predictability of the rebound: glass and panoramic courts return the ball faster and with more bounce, while wall courts absorb more energy. If you're used to one type and switch to the other, expect a short adjustment period on your wall shots.
