Leonel Daniel "Tolito" Aguirre, born December 27, 1997 in Argentina, built his reputation the hard way: through A1 Padel rather than the main international tour, and against a running commentary about his physique that never quite matched what he did on court.
From A1 Padel to Premier Padel
Aguirre made his name on A1 Padel, the Argentine circuit, where he paired with Gonzalo Alfonso from late 2023. The duo, nicknamed "Los Mágicos", strung together ten consecutive titles through Monaco in 2024, including a win over then world number ones Maxi Arce and Franco Dal Bianco, before earning a wildcard into Premier Padel at their home tournament in Mar del Plata later that year. Critics had spent the season questioning whether Tolito's physical conditioning could hold up against the sport's best; the invitation to Mar del Plata was the clearest answer he could give without saying a word.

Tolito's build has never fit the mold of a modern power player, and it became a recurring talking point whenever he and Alfonso strung together results that suggested otherwise. What the criticism consistently underestimated was his technical level: exceptional touch, court reading, and a shot-making instinct that let him compete with players built very differently. After a stint alongside Alex Chozas, Aguirre enters the 2026 season paired with Spaniard Álex Arroyo, a partnership built around power and physicality on Arroyo's side and touch and improvisation on Tolito's, aimed at closing the gap between A1 Padel form and consistent results on the main international circuit. As of 2026 he sits in the top 25 of the FIP world ranking, the clearest sign yet that the technique his critics kept dismissing was the right foundation all along.
